Exeter College’s REACH Academy aims high

Simpkins Edwards - Exeter College's REACH Academy aims highSimpkins Edwards has been recognised as a “Supporter” of an exciting new academic initiative launched by Exeter College this summer.

The Reach Programme aims to encourage participants to stretch themselves academically and to aim high in their university and career ambitions as well as enjoy some extra-curricular activities.

Simpkins Edwards is sponsoring a business & finance themed essay competition and donating the first prize, a laptop computer.  We will also be providing a master class speaker for a financial ethics debating event in summer 2010 and offering a summer internship during summer 2010 to an academy member who is interested in pursuing a career in accountancy and finance, a truly unique opportunity for a very special individual which could lead to a career with the firm.

The academy is also being supported by the Met Office who will also be working with a group of science students from the academy on a scientific project which will enhance their academic learning and give real work experience.

Partner John Coombs was invited to speak at the launch and explain how businesses can follow Simpkins Edwards’ lead and become involved with and support the REACH Academy.

He said: “We are delighted to be amongst the first supporters of the REACH initiative which will offer inspirational guidance and mentoring for our most gifted students.

“It also gives local businesses and organisations the unique opportunity of contributing to the City’s educational sector which is clearly identified nationally and internationally for its high quality and standards of excellence at every level”
